On the eve of the 171st birth celebration of Vassil Levski, Dr Lolita
Nikolova was nominated for the annual Karlovo Prize - one of the biggest
Bulgarian prestiges prizes. For her it is almost like a nomination for the
Nobel prize. To be so far from your native country and to feel like at home
can happen possibly only in Salt Lake - one of the greatest multicultural
centers in the world.
The Parade has just finished and a minute rest before going at home
for ongoing projects.
In Salt Lake I don't have a holiday. But working 7 days a week in such nice social
environment is my greatest pleasure (Lolita Nikolova)
Megi and Eli were the most valuable Bulgarian
representatives at the Youth Parade
Dr Mariana Pavlova represented also her daughter, Vanina
Harkovo, who won two gold medals at the Utah Olympiad a
few months ago.
The young Bulgarians in Utah speak both languages -
Bulgarian and English - fluently. Their smiles are our best
gift to Utahns for the Pioneer day (Staniel and Maria in front
of the group during the Parade)
Georgi Bakalov has the T-sheet from Bulgaria. The tree colors
match the Bulgarian flag (white, green and red).
The Bulgarian Folk dancers Veselina, Kalina
and Maria together with other participants in
the Parade.
Margaret Strickland has been the cultural ambassador of
Bulgaria for years in Salt Lake.
We had talked with
Tsenka about the Parade
for months. Her both
granddaughters really
enjoyed the event.
The Bulgarian Folk Dancers together with American folk dancers - friends of Bulgaria were one of the biggest
attractions during the Parade. They danced during and after the Parade.
The participants enjoyed
the summer day and
could not leave easy the
event.
After the Parade everybody had a popsicle from the organizers.
