"I think Slavery is wrong, morally, and politically. I desire that it
should be no further spread in these United States, and I should not
object if it should gradually terminate in the whole Union."

Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on the 14th of
April 1865 in the Ford's Theatre in Washington,
DC.
Today Abraham Lincoln is known as one of the greatest American
presidents and Vassil Levski as the greatest Bulgarian for all times. Being
thirsty for Freedom an Democracy on both sides of the ocean, Lincoln and
Levski had similar destiny - both became a sacrificed victim of the
ambiguous humankind and their destiny is a lesson for the global society
how fragile the humanistic ideas have been growing in the society.

Quotes by Abraham Lincoln:

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but
if you want to test a man's character,
give him power.

Democracy is the government of the
people, by the people, for the people.

I am a success today because I had a
friend who believed in me and I didn't
have the heart to let him down.

If I had eight hours to chop down a
tree, I'd spend six hours sharpening my
ax

I am not bound to win, but I am bound
to be true. I am not bound to succeed,
but I am bound to live by the light that
I have. I must stand with anybody that
stands right, and stand with him while
he is right, and part with him when he
goes wrong.

I like to see a man proud of the place in
which he lives. I like to see a man live
so that his place will be proud of him.

Be sure you put your feet in the right
place, then stand firm.

America will never be destroyed from
the outside. If we falter and lose our
freedoms, it will be because we
destroyed ourselves.

Most folks are about as happy as they
make their minds up to be.

I walk slowly, but I never walk
backward.

Don't worry when you are not
recognized, but strive to be worthy of
recognition.

My great concern is not whether you
have failed, but whether you are
content with your failure.

You cannot escape the responsibility
of tomorrow by evading it today.

I destroy my enemies when I make
them my friends.

Those who deny freedom to others
deserve it not for themselves.
